This Privacy Policy explains how CouplePower (“CouplePower”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use our mobile app, our website at couplepower.app, and related services (together, the “Service”). CouplePower helps two partners stay close with the help of AI. We are committed to collecting only what we need, being clear about how it is used, and giving you meaningful control over your information.
By using the Service you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account information — your name, email address, the authentication method you use (email and password, Sign in with Apple, or Sign in with Google), and an optional gender you may set to personalize suggestions.
- Couple connection — the invitation code and the link that joins you and your partner into a couple.
- Relationship content — mood check-ins and any reasons you add, notes, goals and their progress, your messages to our AI companion (“Cora”), and the date or gift ideas you like in Vibe Matcher.
- Preferences — likes, interests, and boundaries you choose to save so suggestions fit you.
- Communications — messages you send us (for example, support requests).
Information collected automatically
- Device and technical data — device model, operating system, app version, language, and similar technical details.
- Push token — if you enable notifications, a device push token used to deliver them.
- Usage and diagnostics — how you interact with features, plus crash reports and performance data that help us keep the Service reliable.
- Cookies and local storage — on the website, as described in Section 8.
Information from third parties — when you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your verified identity (such as name and email) from them. We never receive your third-party password.
2. How we use your information
- To provide, operate, and maintain the Service and your account.
- To enable Cora to generate small, personalized suggestions that help each partner give more care, love, and empathy.
- To personalize your experience based on your moods, preferences, and history.
- To send transactional messages and, if you opt in, push notifications and reminders.
- To improve the Service — understanding how features are used, fixing bugs, measuring performance, and refining the prompts and behavior that power suggestions.
- To maintain safety and security, prevent fraud and abuse, and enforce our Terms.
- To comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.
3. AI processing and your partner’s privacy
To generate suggestions, relevant content is processed by our AI provider (see Section 5). CouplePower is designed so Cora can draw on the relationship context one partner shares in order to help the other partner show more care.
Our AI models are instructed and tuned to avoid disclosing a partner’s specific personal information and to suggest actions without quoting or revealing what the other partner wrote privately. Private content such as mood notes is not shown directly to the other partner in the app. Because these safeguards depend on the behavior of AI systems, we cannot guarantee they are perfect; however, minimizing the disclosure of private personal details is a core design goal, and we continually work to strengthen it.
4. Legal bases for processing (EEA/UK)
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process personal data on these legal bases: performance of our contract with you (to provide the Service); your consent (for example, push notifications and optional website analytics, which you may withdraw at any time); our legitimate interests (to secure, maintain, and improve the Service); and compliance with legal obligations.
5. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as described here:
- Your partner — content you choose to make shared (such as shared goals) is visible to your linked partner. Private content is not.
- Service providers (subprocessors) that process data on our behalf, under contract, including: AI suggestion processing (OpenRouter and the underlying model providers); push notification delivery (Google Firebase Cloud Messaging and Apple Push Notification service); error and performance monitoring (Sentry); cloud hosting and storage (Amazon Web Services); authentication (Apple, Google); and email delivery (our transactional email provider).
- Legal and safety — when required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users, the public, or CouplePower.
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to you as required by law.
6. International data transfers
We operate in and use service providers located in the United States and other countries. Where we transfer personal data internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) where required.
7. Data retention
We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, and afterward only as necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal data within a reasonable period, except where retention is legally required.
8. Cookies and similar technologies
Our website uses strictly necessary storage to function. With your consent (via the cookie banner) we may use analytics to understand and improve the site; you can accept or decline, and change your mind by clearing the choice in your browser. The mobile app does not use advertising cookies or third-party ad tracking.
9. Security
We use technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and keeping server credentials and keys on our servers only. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal data; to object to or restrict certain processing; and to withdraw consent. You can edit much of your information in the app, opt out of push notifications in your device settings, and delete your account at any time. To exercise any right, contact us using Section 13; we will respond as required by applicable law and will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
11. Account deletion
You can delete your account at any time from the app or by contacting us. Deleting your account removes your personal data as described in Section 7. Some content shared with a partner, or required for legal or security reasons, may persist as permitted by law.
12. Children
CouplePower is intended for adults (18 and older). It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
13. Region-specific disclosures
EEA/UK. You have the rights described in Section 10 and may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
California (CCPA/CPRA). We do not sell or share (for cross-context behavioral advertising) your personal information. California residents may request to know, delete, and correct personal information, and may exercise these rights without discrimination, by contacting us.
14. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice in the app or by email.
